Our Junior Church
Our Junior Church runs during the Sunday morning church service, from 10.15-11.15am.
We aim to make all children from 3-12 years old welcome, regardless of ethnicity, disability, background or anything else! (Children from 0-3 can be cared for in our crèche.)
Some of the children like to sit with their parents at the beginning of the morning celebration, and some of them choose to sit together – we usually sit in the front row! We have been trying to take an active part in the celebration by leading the congregation in prayers, giving readings, helping with the offering and sharing chocolates with those who have something to celebrate.
We currently have 2 groups meeting on a Sunday morning, and to help our children belong they have named their groups themselves – so we now have Leaping Lions and Worshipping Wolves!
The younger children (3-8) meet in the back room for stories, songs, crafts and games. We use the same structure each week and have a visual timetable to help settle our youngest children and those with additional needs. We are aiming to make our junior church accessible to all.
Our 9-12s meet in the kitchen where they have been really getting stuck into Bible passages, reading from the Bible for themselves and applying what they read to their own lives. Of course, we have lots of games, quizzes, fun and snacks too.
We hope to welcome you to our Junior Church soon.
Jesus said, “let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
Our Junior Church ‘Mission Statement’ is the same as the rest of Dorchester Community Church to:
